THE POWER OF NOW REVIEW

by RICHARD HARPER
A true classic by renown self help guru Eckhart Tolle. Mr. Tolle dives into the history of spending nearly two years sitting on park benches and being present and “living in the moment” before writing this book. I’m not sure I’ll ever have the time to do that in my life, however Eckhart does a great job suggesting that we all spend a large amount of time worrying and being fearful about the future. He also believes that we spend a lot of time fearing and dwelling on our past. Prior to reading this book I had never thought about the impact of those thoughts and the control it had on my life. Eckhart walks the reader through regaining the reigns of his own mind and life, teaching how to be present and mindful of himself and his surroundings. Taking the time to focus on the beauty, love, and bring back a sense of wonderment that we all once had as children.

Take the time to remove yourself from the day to day distractions that control our lives. Focus less on the meetings, traffic, due dates, debt and other things controlling our lives. Instead Tolle suggests focusing on the now and living in the moment.

Overall I found this book to be very enlightening and I highly recommend it to anyone that is struggling with happiness and connection in their own lives.

THE THANK YOU ECONOMY REVIEW

I really thought that I was going to enjoy this book more than I did. I’m a huge Gary Vaynerchuk fan and I follow him on Youtube, and various social media platforms. The biggest problem I have is the writing style for this book. We all know Gary’s energy and charisma, the problem is that it’s really gone over board with this book. The level of “know it all” is kicked into overdrive and the reader is constantly being bombarded with this throughout the book.  The arrogant tone of the book and writer makes it a difficult pill to swallow after a while. Maybe the limited engagements on Youtube or Podcasts are enough for me.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Gary Vaynerchuk. However I’m not sure I could battle reading another book written by him and it all seems to blend together and the true gems get lost in the mix.

ONE ENTREPRENEUR'S TAKE ON LEADERSHIP, SOCIAL MEDIA, AND SELF-AWARENESS

I have mixed feelings about Kieran’s book about slow travel. Kieran makes valid points regarding the current state of travel, and how people are missing the true essence and experience of what travel should be. Kieran feels that traveler’s goals these days are to get to destinations as fast as possible, with the goal of taking pictures for social media and friends. I can’t say I disagree.
Traveling should be less about marking off a location on your bucket list and more about the experience itself.
This book is about the true essence of what travel should be. The journey of visiting and traveling to a location and the proper time needed to complete that journey. Throughout the book Kieran relives stories of travel, the minute details of something that seems so pedantic and miniscule but highlighting the importance of living in the present.
Overall I feel that Kieran’s book does a great job of highlighting the importance of what travel should be however does a poor job of keeping readers engaged
